How does a lazy float down the Kettle River sound?
“Tubing” (pronounced “toobing”) is a summer activity in Boundary Country the whole family can enjoy! “Tubing” the Kettle or Granby rivers is a popular way to keep cool on one of our famously hot summer days. From one hour to the whole day, stop at one of the sandy beaches, cool off in one of many swimming holes, or just lay back and enjoy the unique view of the world.
Tubes can be acquired at local tire stores, or fancy models (including drink holders) are available at local retailers, Grand Forks, and Christina Lake gas stations. Unfortunately, the Country Hideaway RV & Campground Limited or its staff can not assist you in either tubing or transportation to and from your river tubing. This activity is suggested for experienced swimmers wearing certified life jackets.
Towards the end of August, a one-hour ride can become up to three hours. Late in the season, there will be spots you will have to walk.
Please follow these rules when tubing:
Tubing is done at your own risk; therefore, it is only recommended for adults. Consider wearing a life jacket or floatation band.
Do not overload your tube.
Include a floatable paddle for each person.
Good swimming ability is required, as you may experience rapids and snags along the rivers.
Wear Sunscreen and a hat!
Enjoy tubing with fellow tubers so that you can look out for each other.
Pay attention to any signage about private property, safety, or other issues.
Do not wear or take anything valuable.
If you wear glasses (including sunglasses, consider eyeglass straps (also available from local retailers and gas stations in Grand Forks and Christina Lake).
If you need emergency assistance, bring your cell phone in an air-filled zip lock bag (so it floats) and tie it to your tube.
Please observe your surroundings as well as what is coming up downstream.
As with any watersports, wait until you are safely on shore (and won’t be returning to any watersport) before consuming alcohol or legal drugs.
Please Check Local River Levels
Please Check Local River Conditions.
If this is your first time tubing, please consider pairing up with an experienced tubing individual so that they can assist if needed.
